#Patience
An event that has changed and refined my past perspective on teaching and learning has been lesson planning. I'm still getting a grasp on it and I am surprised at how challenging it really is. This challenge comes from the fact that it is not as simple as putting together a fun project. The experience that students receive in the classroom has to be a well thought, intentional experience that is rounded out to do many things. These lessons must touch on GLE's and state Visual Art Standards as well as show evidence of student learning, student interests, provide choice and be accessible to all types of learners. Although I am learning and becoming aware of these things currently, I know that becoming well rounded in creating these highly ideal lesson plans will be learned over time, through my future experiences. This experience influences my path by reminding me that I have to be patient while I learn to perfect my teaching skills, and take the critiques that I receive as tools that will empower me and make me a better educator.
For my art piece I chose to represent these events with the symbol of the Seed of Life. This form/ symbol is about creation and how all of it's parts are necessary to create a whole. It starts in and grows outwards, in a never- ending pattern becoming larger and larger. This is symbolic of my patience of understanding in becoming a well versed and well rounded lesson planner, it will start small and forever grow to be greater and greater!
